Indeed, there seems to be a variety of "puzzles", as here's another variation. All of them "come from IBM aptitude tests". $\endgroup$

I think there might be a few typos, because it looks like the pattern is

$6^5$, $5^4$, $4^3$, $3^2$, which means the next number is $2^1 = 2$.

The pattern (if this is correct) is then

7776, 625, 64, 9, 2
