And, in case anyone missed it: there are several Schrödinger clues here (clues that have multiple different solutions, disambiguating by letter count)! 1A, 5A, and 1D are the same; so are 22A, 4D, and 14D; and so are 13A and 24D!

  • $\begingroup$ Only beaten by 30 minutes. That's a victory in my book. (Unless you started well after the puzzle was posted, of course.) $\endgroup$ – Lanny Strack Apr 17 at 7:59
  • $\begingroup$ @LannyStrack (I did -- I only saw the puzzle about 45 minutes after posting.) $\endgroup$ – Deusovi Apr 17 at 15:58
  • $\begingroup$ Sorry, @deusovi I only solved one of them. I can't see the grid. See answer below. $\endgroup$ – Scratch---Cat Apr 21 at 1:40

  • $\begingroup$ l'm not sure about this strange clue. I only solved the "(5)" part. $\endgroup$ – Scratch---Cat Apr 21 at 1:38
  • $\begingroup$ If you check @Deusovi's answer you'll see the other two explanations (and without needing to write this 'answer'!). Consider leaving a comment next time, perhaps :) $\endgroup$ – Stiv Apr 21 at 6:31
  • $\begingroup$ @Stiv , That's lmgur. I can't see it. Please read my profile. $\endgroup$ – Scratch---Cat Apr 21 at 6:42
  • $\begingroup$ Okay, well try asking @Deusovi in a comment on his post, or jafe on the original posting - you'll more likely get a response to your question that way... You can even head for chat in The Sphinx's Lair and someone will help. There are other ways to get an answer to a follow-on question than posting a whole new answer. Hope this helps! $\endgroup$ – Stiv Apr 21 at 7:52
  • $\begingroup$ @Stiv l've never had a chance to post an answer to a cryptic question... They always answered at night before l could get up the next morning. $\endgroup$ – Scratch---Cat Apr 22 at 7:35
