I think that the answer is
E.
I would study the answer options more than the actual problem. In all the answers there are 2 black dots, the big square and the middle square. First the middle square is a constant: in all the 3 sequences the middle square appears as well as in the answer, so we can omit the middle square from influencing the sequence. Then we can focus on the dots. If we focus on the dots we can see that it seems a decreasing sequence of dots, so if the sequence was longer I would have guessed something like:
4 dots, 3 dots, 3 dots, 2 dots, 2 dots, 2 dots, 1 dot, ...
or
4 dots, 3 dots, 3 dots, 2 dots, 1 dot, 1 dot, ...
a sequence that increases the number of images of +1 for every dot less or an alternating sequence of 1 image 2 images 1 image 2 images ... for every dot less.
But we don't need to focus on the number of dots because in all the answers 2 is the number. If we focus on the dots placed iniside the smallest geometric image we can see that they are always placed in the corners. This let us exclude option D. If you think on the geometric image inside the middle square we can state:
- First no geometric figure is drawn inside
- Second a triangle is drawn inside
- Third no geometric figure is drawn inside
I would assume that is an alternating sequence of:
drawn nothing, drawn a triangle, drawn nothing, drawn a triangle
Why I would assume that you draw something different from a triangle(?) so we can state that either B or E are the answers.
The only missing piece is the Big square I don't get the pattern
Drawn, Drawn, no Drawn, Drawn
This also could be an alternating sequence of maybe
Drawn, Drawn, no Drawn, Drawn, Drawn, no Drawn
but I don't know if it is enough to state something like this.
I tried also to overlap the figures, to sum the number of sides of each figure, sum with the dots, rotate the dots etc. but I found no other patterns. Now, why do I assume that the answer is E and not B? Well why would the triangle be upside down? Nothing lets me assume this. Also the dots do not seem to be exactly in the corner for B, but I don't know if it was drawn poorly or something else because from the triangle in the actual sequence the dot on the bottom left doesn't seem to be exactly in the corner either.
I would go for E but I'm not sure
