Sep 9, 2016 at 15:22 comment added C.Champagne @JiK In addition to Jacob's explanation, guard 1 will tell the truth only if the others do so while guard 5 will tell the truth only if guards 2 (and thus guard 1!) & 4 don't -> contradiction
Sep 9, 2016 at 11:06 comment added Jakob Pamp Bengtsson @JiK Because that would mean the others tell the truth as well, meaning their doors are safe as well, but the puzzle states that only one door is safe. Remember that "tells the truth" refers to "My door is safe"-type statements, not the conditionals!
Sep 9, 2016 at 9:37 comment added JiK Why does the first guard's statement mean he can't tell the truth?
Sep 9, 2016 at 4:21 comment added Buffer Over Read @JamalSenjaya That will have to be in another puzzle. Great idea, though!
Sep 9, 2016 at 4:15 comment added Jamal Senjaya @TheBitByte I think It will be more challenging (harder) if more doors are safe, and we have to determine all safe doors.

minor logic edits, added bold
Sep 9, 2016 at 1:28 comment added ToTheMax I'm not expecting a full forum of "You're right! Everyone's right!" I'm just saying, be humble! If you're really right, your logic and your original version of the answer will rise to the top.
Sep 9, 2016 at 1:20 comment added Gareth McCaughan It's absolutely standard here for someone who thinks an answer is wrong to just say so and explain why, and if you find that rude then I fear you'll be shocked at what a rude lot we are. On the other hand, telling someone to shut up is definitely not polite.
Sep 9, 2016 at 1:17 comment added Gareth McCaughan (Personally I think the question is rather ambiguous, and the sort of reasoning apparently required here -- employed by both you and Rand despite your disagreement on some of the details, and clearly the kind of thing the questioner intends -- is also the sort of thing that lets you prove anything ("Either this sentence is false, or Santa Claus exists").)
