Jul 25 at 11:21 comment added Lucenaposition en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opaque_set has a bound of about 4.7998.
May 31 at 2:38 comment added mckeed @Simd if you can't plow outside, you must plow the entire perimeter or you'll miss a tangent wherever you don't.
Jan 20 at 9:17 comment added Simd Now I want to know what other restrictions for this problem make interesting puzzles too . What if you can plow only within the circle (and the boundary)? Is it simpler in that case?
Jan 20 at 5:58 comment added klm123 @Simd, i have not.
Jan 7 at 23:23 comment added Simd Did you consider posting this to math.se?

Apr 17, 2015 at 13:11 comment added Jiminion From the JMon link, it sounds like it's an unsolved geometric problem. I think a variation on JLee's approach is probably best. There is some kind of optimization wherein in X lines (of Y length, and A angle to tangent) is optimal.
Apr 17, 2015 at 6:22 comment added klm123 @Len, i'm waiting for an answer with smallest length. Ideally it should have prove that this length is possible and can't be improved. Thank you for your note, I haven't noted the comment..
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:28 comment added Len @klm123 - If you are waiting for an answer that is less than 4.8 km, Tryth already posted a link to this answer in his comment below the JonTheMon's answer. It seems that nobody is going to just copy that answer.

Apr 13, 2015 at 17:01 comment added Allan Ok I see what you're saying now. I missed the point that you said you can plow outside the area.
Apr 13, 2015 at 16:57 comment added klm123 @Allan, yes, and it is possible: puzzling.stackexchange.com/a/11973/28
Apr 13, 2015 at 16:54 comment added Allan Wait, so you're saying that something like this can happen? If so, I don't think it's possible you can get it smaller than the circumference since you must reach every point on the perimeter.
